How To Deal With Unwanted Phone Calls - Phones

Harassing or unwanted phone calls/sms can be the most stressful and frightening invasions of privacy a person experiences. Sometimes these unwanted phone calls, can be from annoying telemarketers, threatening calls, or an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend who just doesn’t accept that it’s all OVER! The reasons to block a phone number are many, but the solutions to do so are numbered and few.

Fortunately, there are steps you can take to help put an end to these unwelcome intrusions. All methods won’t work for all, so you need to carefully pick an option which will work best for you.

Here are some of the best ways to block a number from bugging your life

1. Many handset manufacturers has provided the features that can help you block phone numbers. So look out for in-built option in your phone or downloadable apps to limit incoming calls.

Android phone: They have built-in blocking functions, simply go to Your Phone Contact/People > Then select the number to block > Tap on block contact > A pop up with “you will no longer be receiving calls and sms from this number" > Accept by press Ok.

Samsung : If you have a Samsung phone, you have the ability to send an incoming call directly to voicemail, without it even ringing on your device. Look for the “block list” feature on your device

iOS: You can block anyone with a click on your iPhone. This will block the person from calling, texting and FaceTiming you. To do that, go into your Phone Contacts > Select the contact to block > Scroll down to press “Block.”

Nokia : If you still use a Nokia phone, you can download apps like Blacklist which can block specific phone numbers from making a call.

2. Activate Silent mode for specific contacts
There are times when an annoying friend or a relative continuously call you and you’re not comfortable telling them to cut it out. Easy way to handle such situations is to activate silent mode only for such contacts, and they will eventually get tired of calling you when you're not responding.

3. Call Customer Care
Calling customer care for help in blocking a specific phone number is one of the most suggested solutions. Alas! it doesn’t work most of the times. But some network provider do let you block a phone number but only after verifying the facts and asking few security questions.

4. Use a search engine to find out who's calling
If you're not sure of the source of a certain number that pops up, do a search to find out. Entering an unknown number in a search engine may give you some hints about its owner. Many online report services also allow you to report and share your experience with other users.

5. Change your number
I know this sounds absurd as a solution, but in case none of the above tricks work, this is the only available option.

I hope with these simple tricks, you would be able to block that pesky number bugging your life. Please keep sharing this post with others on social media and thank you for reading. - Master Nze
